Drama After Dark

In Renaissance Theatre, we are all about starting new things! This upcoming school year, 2008-2009, we are starting a project called "Drama after Dark."

"Drama After Dark" is a series of student led productions that will be performed in our local community. The goal of this series is to allow students to be creative by developing their own theatrical events and producing them in our community. It could be a student directed one act play, a student written play, an night of improvisation, or any other type of dramatic production.

All productions must be approved by the Director and will be scheduled around other Renaissance events.

Get creative! Start thinking! Start dreaming!

Shows for the 2008-2009 Season

Although I am busy working this summer, we have hit a couple of snags with regards to the play that we will be doing this fall. I had 2 really good choices, but based on calendaring issues and other circumstances, we will not be able to do either. So I am back at the beginning, trying to find another selection for our play this fall.

However, here is what we are doing for the musicals:

November 6-9, 2008 - Bye Bye Birdie

March 26-29 and April 2-5, 2009 - Beauty and the Beast

Schedule for the week

OK, everybody, here is the situation. I am the flu and the doctor said that I am supposed to stay home and rest for the rest of the week. Plus, I am contagious and I don't need to give this to any of you! SO, I am going to put some instructions on here for what I'd like you guys to do this week.

Today, no rehearsal. enjoy another day off.

Wednesday. I would like for the church show group to meet and try to go over some of the skits that we have worked on. Just start running through the script to get more familiar with it and the blocking.

Thursday. the hands team group from the church show needs to get together and start working on their pieces. I know I haven't told you what we are going to do yet, but when you show up thursday, someone will be able to tell you what is going on.

Friday. not sure yet. I'll post again later in the week.

thanks and see you next week.

Seussical Character Descriptions

Hey folks.

If you are interested in reading a little bit about the seussical characters, click on the link below. It has some good information on there. REMEMBER, this is ONE director's interpretations of the characters, but most of them are pretty accurate. Disregard the ages listed as well.

Also remember, the Cat in the Hat and Jojo are open to either males or females.

Enjoy!
